It's that time of year again...FIELD DAY!!! This coming Monday, June 13th, is scheduled for Field Day from 9:00am-3:00 pm. We have many fun things planned but do need some help pulling it off! I have listed below the items that are needed or the jobs that you can volunteer for during the day. Please take a look and let me know over the next couple of days, exactly what you would like to do so that I can organize it all together on Sunday. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text my cell # at 540-222-4874.
Students wear their Field Day t-shirts and P.E. shorts. Sneakers - no flip-flops. Also, please do not forget sunscreen and water containers for your child! The sunscreen needs to be put on your child BEFORE your child gets to school.
1) Canopies/Awnings for much needed shade. We cannot have too much shade! I would like at least 2 rows of canopies set up next to each other for one big row of shade down the middle of the field (field next to the playground)
2) Fruit for all the students to snack on in between the games. The fruit needs to be cut up and ready to eat. Coolers with ice will also be needed to keep the fruit cool. Iced water will be available in the sports coolers for refills of the kids own water containers. There will also be disposable cups available if your child forgets their water bottle. I will need parents to help serve the fruit and keep it stocked as well as keeping the iced water stocked in the coolers.
3) Lunch servers/monitors. We are grilling hamburgers and hotdogs this year. I need a few parents to help Mr. Laybourne and Ms. Nunberg help serve and monitor lunch. We will do 3 shifts similar to our daily lunch schedule. The Preschool, K, 1st and 2nd grades will begin at 11:10 am. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades will start at 11:50 am and the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades will begin at 12:25 pm.
4) Your TIME! I need parents or alumni to help with the games! There will be game stations set up for all the classes to experience starting at 9:00 am. The classes will rotate through each station, break for lunch, and finish up with the stations until 1:00 pm. At 1 pm, I need a few parents to help the teachers with a scavenger hunt! Each class will have their own directions so 1-2 parents just need to walk with them to make sure they get to the next correct destination (teachers...you will have the answers to the scavenger hunt on the back of your schedule. Copies of the schedule will be available in your box as well as I will email them to you on Sunday night). The final destination is the fire truck, which is scheduled to arrive at 2:00 pm to cool everyone off. I will take whatever time you can give!
I need the set up of the canopies/awnings, as well as the school tables and water coolers to start at 8:00 am. Those who are helping with games need to be there by 8:15 am so that I can go over each station with you. I look forward to hearing from each of you! Let's make this a great way to end the 2015-2016 school year and to send off our 8th graders with wonderful memories!
